Cold!

Last week we had several very cold days for West Tennessee.

Here is part of our forecast that week

That's 3.7*, not 37*  :)

This is ice inside our windows

Did you know that bubbles will freeze if it is cold enough?

You have to blow them just right so they don't pop and freeze on your wand...

...then give them enough time to completely freeze in the air before you catch them or you'll get little ice droplets like this.

But once you get the hang of it, you can catch them in your hand and play with them (with a glove on, so the heat from your hand doesn't melt them).

The ice is extremely thin, so they still pop easily, but when they do you get a thin bowl shape with a jagged opening at the top.  

Our pond froze solidly enough for us to walk across it.

We saw this dead beetle under the ice - his last breath frozen into an icy bubbly!
