Trip to MD - Part 2

Friday afternoon several of us took a long hike around the area.

In the next 2 pictures you can see the Potomac River, and across the river, West Virginia.

We went exploring inside this old cave in the side of the mountain.

The camera flash makes it look light in there, but it was really pitch black!

Some parts of the cave are really short.

There is a nice paved walking/biking trail that follows the old railroad around the mountains.

We visited an old dam along the trail.

It's a lot farther down than it looks in the picture!

 Cute little Hudson

Isn't he adorable in that hat?

...watching David climb

I thought it was interesting how the mountainside changes from rocks to soil, and back to rocks.

There are a lot of neat, old, abandoned homes all around the area.

They look like they would have so much history behind them!

The drive home was so pretty with all the redbuds blooming along the way.

We stopped briefly at Smoky Mountain Knife Works in Sevierville on our way home.  It is such a neat store - I could spend days in there!  We were too busy looking around to take many pictures, though.  :)

Trip to MD - Part 1

David had a long weekend over Easter, so he and I went up to Steven and Anna's for a few days.  Mr. and Mrs. Corbett and Rachel were visiting Steven and Anna also, and Jonathan came up from Virginia, so they had a houseful.  We all had a great weekend together!

Hudson had a bad cold while we were there, but he was still so smiley.

Uncle Jonathan is a great playmate

Steven and Anna live with and care for Steven's great-grandmother, Nanny.

This little fella is really growing up!

He looks just like Jonathan's baby pictures in this one.

Eva likes to color and draw.

I thought this drawing of hers was impressive (she's only 2).  Aren't her people cute?!

The sunshine is bright!

This flowering tree is so pretty.

"Would you like a flower?"

"Cheese"

From one side of the house you can see all the way across the river and mountains into West Virginia.  There is a lookout there on the top of the mountain (the white building in the center of the picture), from which you can overlook the whole farm.  Mr. and Mrs. Corbett, Jonathan, David, and Rachel were there when this picture was taken, but it's too far away to see them.

They took this picture looking back at us - the white spot in the center is the barn, and just to the right of it (across the street) is Nanny's house.
