We harvested the honey from our beehives earlier this month.
Stacks of supers full of honey
This was all we had left of our spring honey, so we really needed the fall honey!
Uncapping the honey
A bowl full of wax cappings (we'll make chapstick with the wax).
A frame halfway uncapped
A few bees insisted on staying in the honey supers and ended up on the porch.
Ready to spin...
...and here it goes!
Letting the honey out of the extractor
Mmmmmm! (Such a beautiful sight!)
This is a really nice (and heavy!) sight, too. :) We extracted 7 1/2 gallons of fall honey this year.
The bees were happy to clean the wax cappings afterwards!
I know those bees! Glad you got such a good harvest!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mrs. Moss. I have split that original hive into 4 or 5 hives over the last few years. They're really good bees. :)
