Sightseeing in West Tennessee

On Friday we took the Beemans to visit several different sights in our area.
We started with a picnic at this riverside pavilion in Savannah.Daniel watching from the stroller Baby Daniel tries his first food! Rachel let us give him a carrot to suck on.Since our next stop was the Cherry Mansion, several of us decided to walk along the river from the park to the mansion. There was water to wade through...
...and rocks to cross. There are a lot of interesting rock formations along the riverPart way through our walk the boys decided to try the catwalk under the Tennessee River bridge.Jedidiah walked quite a ways out across the bridge......while the anxious girls watched from below.
That's Jedidiah in the red circle all the way up there! At the Cherry Mansion (Grant's Headquarters during the battle of Shiloh)The Beemans waving -- even Kathryn and Daniel! We always enjoy the beautiful grounds. Next we visited the Tennessee River Museum in Savannah. Here our little Dixie girl waves the Bonnie Blue Flag and the Stars and Bars.In downtown SavannahWe also visited the Civil War battlefield of Shiloh.
A tiny Confederate!Kathryn loved wearing the uniform! Yankee and Rebel......Wisconsin and Texas...
...happily married! Jedidiah and Rachel at the memorial for the Texans who were killed in the battle The monument honoring the Wisconsin troops

  1. Hi dear Smiths! I had a lovely time scrolling through all these pics tonight as I'm getting ready to make a post (finally!) on our blog of the time since we left you all. What lovely memories these pics (of the posts of our visit) are! What a really wonderful time we had with you, and, as always, you have some amazing photos to document it!
    Thanks for posting them!
